Adonai Guides Me Step by Step!
Estimated reading time: 1 minute, 37 seconds“Welcome! I am so happy you joined us tonight. Let me find you a table,” the venue owner said.
As he released me from his bear hug, I realized how tightly he had squeezed me.
“This is Richard. He is a good guy. He held an event in memory of his wife, and I see him walking daily. Can he join your table?”
One of the four women asks, “Are you good at trivia? ”
I respond I am a team player.
“We need another man,” says the only man in the group of five.
How much do you walk,” one of the women asks.
Feeling anxious as I sit in the empty chair, I look at my Apple Watch and state my average is 8.5 miles.
“Wow, that is a lot.”
I like to walk, I respond. I am unsure how to say anything more than that.
But they persist in their questions.
“It helps me find peace and solace on my grief journey,” I say clearly but quietly.
What music do you listen to on your walks?”
Nothing, I respond. I listen to nature.
“Cool.”
The trivia contest begins, and the conversation about my perambulating ends.
I wake up and say my morning prayers, ready to commence my day.
All blessings flow from Adonai, our God, the life of the world, who guides my steps.
With that blessing, I pull up on sweats, tie my shoes, convey my love to Jan, and walk into the new day’s sunrise.
