Dreaming of Beauty but Doing My Duty
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 46 secondsAlthough I rarely remember my nighttime dreams, I know that most of those daydreams focus on Jan’s beauty and the love we shared.
Some days, like this morning, my body rebels the quiet ring of my Apple Watch. I want to roll over and sleep until the sun sets.
At those moments, like Louisa May Alcott, I do my duty.
I slept, and dreamed that life was beauty;
I woke, and found that life was duty.
My duty begins with a walk to focus my body and soul on remembering Jan and keeping her memory alive.
With each footstep, my love for Jan grows stronger. Our love will never die!

Louisa May Alcott
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 46 secondsThe full poem by Louisa May Alcott.
I slept, and dreamed that life was beauty;
I woke, and found that life was duty.
Was thy dream then a shadowy lie?
Toil on, sad heart, courageously,
And thou shall find thy dream to be
A noonday light and truth to thee.
