Seventy-seventh Orbit on Spaceship Earth
A Mitzvah on My Birthday
Estimated reading time: 1 minute, 13 secondsLife has thrown its fair share of challenges my way, but today, I’m filled with pride and joy as I celebrate a remarkable milestone—I’ve just completed my 1,425th consecutive day of walking! This impressive number is not just a reflection of my dedication; it symbolizes my commitment to healthy living and conscientious resilience. While I didn’t return to where I started, my journey today took me 7.7 miles forward, a testament to the adventures ahead. And speaking of adventures, today is extra special as I celebrate my 76th birthday and embark on my 77th orbit around the sun on spaceship Earth. Cheers to new beginnings and the milestones yet to come!
Reflecting on the years I have spent on this planet is humbling. During that time, I have witnessed both good and bad times. As an innately optimistic person, I focus on the positive memories rather than the negative ones.
Today was a day of growth and positivity, marking the third annual Mitzvah Day in Hanson Park. In the first year, we had six volunteers; last year, we had 18; today, we welcomed 47 participants. It’s inspiring to see our community coming together and growing each year.
Initially, I had to explain the meaning of ‘Mitzvah,’ but now it’s a term our community uses frequently and correctly. It’s a testament to our shared values and understanding. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than by coming together to support and help our neighbors.
