Walking Away From the Island of Grief
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 30 secondsLast week I walked 105.62 miles. Not sure if this is anything to celebrate on Independence Day! My doctor is happy I am walking more. Not sure if she would approve of a hundred miles in a week. In my opinion, two-thirds of the miles are for therapy, and the balance for exercise.
This is the daily mileage count:
- Sunday, June 27 – 16.39 miles
- Monday, June 28 – 13,77 miles
- Tuesday, June 29 – 14 miles
- Wednesday, June 30 – 15.88 miles
- Thursday, July 1 – 15.01
- Friday, July 2 – 17.36
- Saturday, July 3 – 13.21
1200 miles in 100 Days
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 30 secondsAccording to my Fitbit, I have walked at least 10,000 steps for the last 100 days. My average has been 26,141 for a total of 2,614,100 steps. For the same period, I have been averaging 12 miles a day for a total of 1,200 miles. Not bad for a 72-year-old man.
Walking 100 Miles in Standard Time
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 30 secondsThis week, for the second time, I have walked a century of miles. Two-thirds of the miles are for my mental health and the balance for exercise. During my grief journey, my walking has been a key to my survival.
My daily totals:
- Sunday – 15.41
- Monday – 15.95
- Tuesday – 15.88
- Wednesday – 12.91
- Thursday -10.61
- Friday – 13.24
- Saturday -16.22
This week with the time change and our anniversaries, the walking was incredibly beneficial.
Next Walkking Shoes
Estimated reading time: 0 minutes, 30 secondsThese are the two brands of walking shoes I am planning to purchase late this month. With as much walking as I do, shoes do not last very long, and I have had 184 consecutive days of 10,000 or more steps.
These are Hoka running shoes that my son Jon likes, and these are New Balance Men’s 990v5.
Need to decide soon!
My current walking shoes have done well, but they no longer have the support and comfort required to walk the distances I walk.
